Hello there, and welcome to Heritage Standard.
I’m Rob and I wanted to take a few minutes to just share a little bit about myself.

I’ve always been a fan of style and quality. From my first pair of Adidas Shell-toes as a teenager to my White’s boots purchased a few weeks ago. I’ve selected items that say a lot about me and that hold value. Style is enduring as opposed to fashion, which comes and goes. I’ve always been bold in my choices and aren’t afraid to push the boundaries.

My love of work wear and denim in particular has evolved over time. I first became interested in tweeds, leather and selvedge denim and this quickly developed into a love of vintage and reproduction workwear and all of the little details – buckles, fabrics, zippers, stitching I could go on and on. From there my knowledge has increased and grown like a spiders web, catching snippets of information that has spurred me on to find out more.

A little over a year ago I joined instagram and found a growing worldwide community of likeminded individuals interested in style. I loved this form of communicating with others with the same enthusiasm and the positivity it created. I’m a visual person so I found this interesting, and I rapidly found inspiration and friendship from people all over the world.  I became excited about everything I was learning and unexpectedly found that people liked my style. This great feedback and my desire to connect with others, encouraged me to start Heritage Standard.

So what makes Heritage Standard different from all the other forums, websites and blogs out there? Well, the focus is on the people I have met, predominantly within the instagram community but to be fair I could have met them anywhere. People who I have struck up a friendship with, who spur me on, whose love of denim and all things work wear challenge and delight me on a daily basis. I wanted to find out more about them, their daily lives, what makes them tick and how they became denim heads or driven by style.

For me, music has a huge influence on my life and quite often helps influence my style choices. As a vinyl collector and DJ, I’ve been asked numerous times to share some of the fun, exciting and sometimes rare tracks I’ve discovered over the last 30 years of bombarding my lugholes with jazz, hiphop, funk, rock and heavy metal. So you’ll also find a few 45 minute compilations appear from time to time that you can listen to on Mixcloud for free.

That was how it all started. I’ve found the interviews really good fun to write and rewarding to read. Hopefully, you have too. There still are a lot of characters out there who I hope to have a ‘chat’ with one day so who knows where this could end up.

Heritage Standard isn’t just about clothes, it’s about lifestyle so you’ll see reviews, interviews and articles on anything or anyone that intrigues me or has a story to tell.

I hope you enjoy visiting Heritage Standard and meeting the Characters or downloading one of the compilations, feel free to leave a comment or get in touch if you fancy contributing in some way, anyone is welcome here.

Cheers and best wishes,
Rob @HS

    • Hi Martin, thanks for your comment.
I really enjoy the interviews, I always had the vision of HS being about others so to have a top guy like Jan on my small site is a big deal for me.
Hopefully there will be more added soon.
      Thanks again, cheers!
